Downeast offers both traditional Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew—both of which bring complexity, rich flavor, and a new way to enjoy coffee.
Our Brewing Process
First, our experts source the highest quality arabica coffee from farms in Colombia, Costa Rica and Mexico. These regions produce ideal coffee for cold brew due to their bright complex taste profiles.
We lightly roast this signature blend to bring out its full range of flavors.
The beans are then ground coarse which allows optimal surface area and the best possible extraction.
Immediately after grinding, the coffee is steeped in cold water for 20 hours.
After steeping, the grinds and sediment are filtered out leaving behind our signature Downeast Cold Brew.
Finally, the cold brew is sealed in air-tight, oxygen-free kegs to keep it extra fresh awaiting the perfect pour from your kegerator!
Nitrogen, hence the name Nitro, is the secret ingredient. By keeping the cold brew under high Nitrogen pressure for an extended period, the nitrogen infuses into the cold brew coffee giving it a silky creamy texture.
